ANNUAL REPORT 2014-15

Hon’ble Chief Guest Brigadier R.P.Sharma, Deputy GOC 15 Infantry Div, Chairman VMC KV1 Amritsar Cantt., Mrs. Bharti Sharma, distinguished officers, guests, members of the faculty, students, parents, mediamen-print & electronic, ladies and gentlemen. I feel honoured and priviledged to welcome you all on this Annual Day Function, a gala event of the Vidyalaya.

          K.V. No.1 Amritsar Cantt, being an integral part of grand and unique organization KVS, which envisions itself a world class organization in School education, committed to continually empowering teachers, to actualize inside out synergy in students and enable them to fulfill futuristic Societal, national and global needs and aspirations, pursues its policies and programmes in letter and spirit. It is a model and smart school wedded to Indian values, culture and traditions imparting education with high standards. Thus it gives me immense delight and pride in reading the Annual Report of the Vidyalaya to a galaxy of educated, learned and illustrious patrons.

KVS and CBSE awarded every achiever a cheque of Rs 5000/- and merit certificates for their outstanding performance.

Sporting Excellence:- Vidyalaya bagged 18 Gold, 22 Silver and 22 Bronze medals in the 45th Regional Sports Meet in Cricket, Handball, Basketball, Shooting and Judo.

Laurals in National Sports Meet-: Ms. Sharanjeet of Class XI bagged a Gold in Shooting, Master Gagandeep of Class IX grabbed a Gold in Judo, Master Mandeep of Class XII Captured a Gold in Basketball, Master Akash of Class IX clinched a Silver in Boxing and Master Jagmeet of Class X fetched a Bronze in Boxing.

Crowning Glory:- Master Gagandeep of Class IX represented the Vidyalaya in SGFI Judo Competition. Miss Sharanjeet got selected for Shooting at SGFI.

Pride of Honour:- KVS Jammu Region awarded Trophies to three of our students namely Mandeep Kaur of Class XII, Gagandeep of class IX and Sharanjit of class XII who excelled in Judo, Taekwondo and Basketball in SGFI Competition.

Medal Glut in Science Olympiad:- As many as 53 students appeared in Science Olympiad –level one-and 27 cleared it reaping a rich harvest of 10 Gold, 12 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals.

Vidyalaya’s Pride and Joy Science Olympiad:-2 of our students were selected for the State Award for performing outstandingly in Science Olympiad. One of the students claimed a Gold medal and a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- in Science Olympiad.

Golden Cadets of NCC:- 15 Cadets took part in combine Annual Training Camp and eight of the girl-cadets won 16 Gold medals in various activities. Besides Ms Ayushi of class IX was selected for Inter Battalion Firing Competition. In addition to that 19 cadets attended a 10- day camp and did the Vidyalaya proud by picking up 18 Gold medals and certificates by doing exceedingly well in different activities and events.

Budding Parliamentarians:- Vidyalaya Youth Parliament team bagged Ist position at Regional level Youth Parliament Competition. Eight Students were adjudged best speakers and got Prize at function held in New Delhi in Parliament Balayogi Auditorium along with two Teacher Escorts.

          This year again one team got Ist position Regional level and IInd position at Zonal level. Again eight best speakers‘ll be honored at New Delhi.

Standing Sentinels Scouts and Guides:- 10 Guides and 10 Scouts were sent for Rajya Puraskar and 10 Guides passed Rajya Puraskar Testing camp.  7 Guides and 15 Scouts took part in Tritya Sopan Testing Camp. 7 Guides 13 Scouts passed successfully Tritya Sopan Test.

Children’s Social Skills:-

Cluster Level:- 30 students participated romping home with Ist , 2nd & 3rd position in Skit, Dance and Hindi Debate respectively.

Regional Level:- 8 Students took part in Regional Level Social Science Exhibition. Vidyalaya secured 2nd position in Skit.

Salient Features:-

Up-to-date Computer Labs:- Vidyalaya is the proud owner of four well- equipped and furnished computer Labs having more than 100 Computers placed at the disposal of the students to facilitate education with technology. Besides Projectors, LCD, DVD etc are being used for various purposes. All the four labs have Internet Broad-band connection.

Up-to the-Minute Library:-  Computerized air- conditioned library of the Vidyalaya has a huge stockpile of books on various subjects from language to Science, Computer, History, G.K., Commerce, Literature et al for the exclusive use and facility of the students and the teachers. Total books in the library are 18031.

Contemporary Science Labs:- The Junior and Senior Science Labs enable the students to conduct practicals and experiments adequately and satisfactorily.

Adolescent Education Programme:- National Adolescent Education Programme is being followed as per the directions of the Govt. of India and Innovative Ideas are used by trainees.

Successful Implementation of RTE:- Right to Education has been implemented in letter and spirit in the Vidyalaya. Every year 50 students are admitted under RTE in Class I ensuring that all children complete their elementary education meeting all the specified norms. Now RTE students have reached in class V.

Empowering Single Girl Child:- The Vidyalaya is providing free education to as many as 23 single girl – students studying in different classes. No fee of any type is charged from them.

The Priceless CCA Treasures:- Co-Curricular Activities are held throughout the academic year to provide the students a platform to showcase their latent talent and ability. Today CCA prizes are to be given.

Club Culture:- Integrity Club, Green Club, Eco Club, Adventure Club etc are functioning, rekindling and inculcating moral values, beliefs, traditions and discipline.

Potent Student Council:- A body of 62 students (52 from Secondary and 10 from Primary) work diligently to promote values, discipline, responsibility and accountability in the student community.

CMP Pattern:- Primary Education is being run on the pattern of CMP. An activity room has been renovated and furnished to strengthen activity based education.

Olympiads:- (i) 21 students were registered for the Junior Science Olympiad conducted by Indian Association of Physics teachers.

                   (ii) 70 students appeared in the Junior Maths Olympiad.

                   (iii) 200 students were enrolled for International Science Olympiad.

                   (iv) A good number of students took part in English Olympiad.

                   (v) 102 students participated in Science Olympiad.

Exhibitions:- Cluster level Science Exhibition was held in the Vidyalaya from where two of our students qualified for Regional Level Exhibition and two students got selected for National Level Science Exhibition.

NCSC:- Master Vipul’s project was adjudged the best in the Regional  Level National Children Science Congress. He also represented the Vidyalaya in the congress in Bangalore.

NSTSE:- 48 students took part in National Science Talent Search Examination Competition.

Quiz Competitions:- Vidyalaya organized quiz competition sponsored by Vivekanand Sewa Samati.

·        32 Students took part in Discovery Kids and WWF- India Wildlife Quiz conducted at school level. All received certificates of participation.

·        4 students took part in RBI Quiz competition and obtained certificates of participation.

Testing Tests:- IMD, NSO and IEO Tests for the second Level were successfully concluded.

Guidance and Counselling:- A team of Experts from Akash Institute conducted a workshop at Panther Auditorium in which students  of class X took part.

Ms Rupali Bakshi from Anglo- Eastern Ship Management counselled the students of Class XI.

Career Counselling for choosing careers was conducted by Lovely Professional University, Amritsar College of Engg. & Technology, Rebsec Solutions

KVS National Incentive Awardee:-KV teachers are highly qualified, able and talented. This was amply proved when Mrs. Arminder Kaur TGT (Social Science) was

awarded KVS National Award 2014 for her outstanding work, conduct and service in KVS.

21st Century Workshop:- Mr. J.P.Singh PGT(Chem) attended a workshop on 21st century class room of Chemistry at ZIET. He ably prepared activity based Chemistry syllabus for class XI. He also attended a 5-day workshop on 21st century teaching technology by project based enquiry learning at ZIET Chandigarh.

Training Camp:- Mr. Sukhwinder Singh TGT(P & HE) attended a 5-day training camp at ZIET Chandigarh pertaining to sports injuries and personal  hygiene.

Induction Course:- KVS Jammu Region entrusted the responsibility of organizing Induction Course for newly inducted TGTs – all subjects- w.e.f. 21.02.2015 to 04.03.2015 . And K.V.No.1 Amritsar carried out its responsibility with grand success.

A Flavouring Medley…………..

Colouring Competition:- Deerga Mahajan of Class II-C received a cheque of Rs 100/- in colouring competition organized by the Children’s Magazine.

Certificate of Appreciation:- Master Nitish of Class IX participated in Sangeet Sammelan in which he demonstrated his talent in Indian Classical Music Instrumental) to get a medal and an appreciation certificate.

Cash Prize of Rs. 1000/- :- US Organisation awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- to Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Rs. 500/- to Rohini Singh and  Rs. 200/- to Master Harsh Pal for their sterling performance.

Glittering Gold:- Master Ashutosh of class III-A bagged a Gold Medal in the 9th All India KV Child Art organized by KV ONGC (Andra Pradesh)

German Language Youth Camp:-  4 students of the Vidyalaya , who excelled in German in their KV, attended Youth Camp for KV Students for which they received certificates of participation.

Inspire Award:- Ms. Shreya of class IX-C took part in State Level Science Exhibition . Her model was selected for the National Level Competition. Her abundant talent fetched her a bag, a set of books and a trophy.

National Yoga:- Ms. Pragya of class V won a gold medal in the yoga National Championship held in Goa.

Rashtriya Ekta Divas:- 30 students took part in Painting, Poster Making and Collage making to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Divas on the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel sponsored by CBSE. All got certificates.

Art Exhibition:- KV ONGC Rajmundri conducted 9th All India KV Child Exhibition in which a painting of the Vidyalaya was selected. 12 Certificates and a brochure were awarded to the students.

Adventure Activities:- 50 students took part in a 10- day Adventure Camp held at Pahalgam doing activities like river crossing, rock climbing, trekking etc.

Fusion Science and Cultural Fair:- Prabhjot and Tarun of class-XII bagged first prize in the Fusion Science and Cultural Fair held at Amritsar college of Engineering and Technology. Vidyalaya claimed first position in Poetry, Chess and Extempore speech.

Achievement of Alumni:- An  alumni Ms. Priyansha  secured a package of Rs. 3.20 Lakh in an ACS, Ruchika Mahajan secured a package of Rs. 4.3 Lakh in  TCS, Shashank Mahajan secured a package of Rs. 3.25 Lakh in Tech Mahendra.

Indian National Trust:- 6 Students took part in Art and Cultural Heritage event organized by Indian National Trust in which all got certificates.

Health and Hygiene:- Station Health Officer Satwant Singh made the Students of the Vidyalaya  aware of the causes , effects and symptoms of Swine Flu in collaboration with  MH authorities.

Celebrations:- Swaschh Bharat Abhiyan was launched in the Vidyalaya on Sept 25,2014. National Education Day, Scouts and Guides Foundation Day, KVS Foundation Day, Thinking Day, Republic Day, Independence Day, Mother Teresa Day, Vigilance Week, Rashtriya Ekta Divas and Bal Swaschhata Mission were celebrated in the Vidyalaya.

          Sahodaya School Complex Amritsar awarded Enterprising Educator Leadership Award to Mrs. Kusam Malhotra, Principal K.V.No.1 Amritsar Cantt. in appreciation of her exceptional leadership abilities and educational visionaries.

          Science Olympiad Foundation awarded Best Principal Award for enhancing learning in Science & technology, English and excellence in education.

          Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs awarded Trophy to the Vidyalaya for its Youth Parliament securing first position at Regional level in which 8 students were adjudged best speakers.

          Care Promise Welfare Society working for the eradication of cancer awarded Trophy to the Vidyalaya.

          Smile Foundation awarded Certificate of Appreciation for the efforts and contribution made by the Vidyalaya under the guidance of Principal for spreading a few smiles among under privileged children.

Goals to be achieved during 2015-16

On the journey to life’s highway, keep your eyes upon the goal. Focus on the donut, not upon the hole.

·        A Skating Rink has been constructed and is going to be fully equipped to make it operational in the near future.

·        A new primary section is to be built.

·        Class XII B has been converted into a smart class room and at least one smart class room for all classes is to be made.

·        100% result in CBSE Class XII Exam is to be obtained.

·        Vidyalaya building is to be repaired, white-washed, beautiful and renovated during the summer vacation. Major repair estimates for the building will be taken from MES.

·        A Mathematical garden will be set up where everything will be rosy.

·        Physics and Chemistry labs will be extensively renovated.

·        Pathways in the Corridors of the Vidyalaya building are to be tiled with ceramic tiles.

·        Every child is to be transformed into a true human being committed to values.

To Round it Off………

It is my strong conviction that all these goals will be achieved with focus and concentration, with the active support and cooperation of the Hon’ble Chairman VMC Brig. R.P.Sharma, Members of VMC, VEC and MES authorities concerned.KVs are world class educational institutions, the originators of numerous innovative practices, ideas, concepts and experimentations. K.V.No.1 Amritsar will not lag behind, rather it will be way ahead than other organizations in all fields. I, on behalf of my teachers and students, assure you that the Vidyalaya will attain superiority distinction and perfection in all spheres to be No.1 in the real sense of the term.
